The Recycling Program promotes positive influences

One of the main aims of “Lucky Point” is to teach children from an early age to apply a good work ethic. Nothing in life is free and the harder you work, the greater the potential or reward. This approach encourages the kids to work “hard at school” in order to recognize the benefits that come from it. Also, it is an attempt to dissuade them from linking up with the criminal element, which would have a negative – even disastrous – impact on their young lives.

Success, as we know, tends to breed success and with it a boost in confidence, which we hope translates into the attitude of “Yes we can”!

The focus of the recycling program highlights the positive influence on health and safety for local inhabitants, the care for the environment and, of course, a good work ethic.

Due to the success of the program, we have now outgrown the facility and are presently negotiating with the municipality for a larger piece of ground. This will enable us to build a bigger facility and, in turn, employ a number of local people on a casual labour basis.

Kids, teens, adults, everyone has a need and they understand the benefits the project brings, whether it is recycling paper, bottles, tin cans, batteries et cetera in exchange for points. Their reward points can be converted into clothes, food, toiletries, bicycles, sports goods and more. Most of the items in the Point Shop are provided by our good friends in Switzerland, who send containers full of wonderful donated goods regularly.
